Waxing vs. Shave?
Updated: Sep 15, 2018
Wax on, wax off
It's really as simple as that! Incase you've been living under a rock for quite some time now, you've surely heard of waxing away all those unwanted hairs rather than taking a razor to your skin. Waxing is a hair removal technique that can be done all over the face and body by applying hot wax and quickly removing it, ripping away hair from the follicle. At Carl Keith Salon, we are now using Hot Wax, a less painful, lovely smelling, type of wax will make your visit even more luxurious.
Benefits of Waxing
Waxing the hairs removes them from the root, meaning no razor burn, stubble or missed patches. You can also experience the joys of slower regrowth and thinner finer hairs when waxing consistently. We recommend exclusively waxing, as switching between waxing and shaving eliminates the benefits mentioned and will make waxing more painful.
Prepping for your Wax
It's wise to gently exfoliate your skin for 2-3 days prior to your waxing appointment, as this will bring any ingrown hairs out and make for a smoother result. Refrain from using any lotions the day of your wax, as well as deodorant, as this will prevent the wax from being able to grab onto the hairs.
How Long Will it Last?
"I love how prickly your legs feel!" said no one ever... We all want smooth skin as long as possible. Shaving only removes the hair at a surface level, so you can expect to see growth within 2 to 4 days where waxing removes the hair from the root, giving you about 1 to 2 weeks before your smooth spots get fuzzy again.
The plus side with shaving is that you can do it any time and with hair at any length, where with waxing, you'll need to let the hair grow to about 1/4 inch.
